Funny enough Don as "small" as Georgetown is being in the Military I have found alot of people either from Georgetown or have spent enough time in Georgetown to have a story or two about our town...love the site and I will definately tell others.

I think I remember driving you to work in my little blue Escort just before my first date with the man who became my husband. I think you also wrote letters to my mom while you were stationed overseas. How did I do?

Darren....as mentioned already, welcome. You also mentioned that you are in the military. I too am from Georgetown and in the military. In fact I know a few people I have met along my travels in the CF that said they were from G'Town and with it being so small (at one time) I was glad to chat about old times. Tell us about yourself, are you from G'Town originally? When did you live there and where? What are you doing in the military now, what trade? Did you go to GDHS?

Hello Lisa...wow you have a good memory...I don't seem to remember Top Gun though but I remember that lil car of yours and you teaching me to drive standard in the parking lot of Joseph Gibbons man was I ever terrible at that. Your mom did indeed write me when I was in Saudi Arabia...she was such a sweetie

Hey Mark well I am an MP in Kingston and do the Scenes of Crime Officer stuff plus I teach DARE to kids and I am the senior Breath Tech for the MPs and run several other programs.

I grew up on Faludon Drive the street that rings Centennial School and of course went to Centennial for Grade 6,7and 8 and went to Joseph Gibbons before that....was actually in Lisas grade 4 or 5 class I think...and I definately went to GDHS...even graduated

Im sure I will post more as my memory comes back to me it is rough being so old...I'm just about to turn the big 40 this month so sometimes it fails me

Hey Darren:

I had forgotten you were in my class at good old Joseph Gibbons. I have the photo, would you like me to post it? It was Mr. Nancekivell's class and you were in grade 5 and I was in grade 6! (Mr. Nancekivell actually lives somewhere in the Kitchener Waterloo area now - there is a girl figure skating at the same club as my daughter with the last name Nancekivell. I finally figured out who her mom was and asked and it turns out it is his daughter - small world eh!)

I don't remember teaching you to drive standard either but I do remember going out for dinner one night with you and Brian (my husband) and you were driving and you scared the crap out of him - I think you liked to drive a tad fast in those days! To qualify this to those who don't know Darren or Brian - Brian scares me on a regular basis so for Darren to have scared him - well, you get the picture!

The Top Gun reference, and my memory could be wrong because like you, I am old now, is that I remember watching that movie over and over with you in your basement, especially on Sunday afternoons when there would be nothing to do because in those days nothing was open on Sunday. BTW - was I right about Pizza Hut - where were you working then?

I will have to tell my mom that you are online now. She will get a kick out of hearing some updates on you I am sure. She really enjoyed writing to you while you were posted overseas and I think that may have begun her addiction to CNN!

Oh, and I have a trick for you about the whole aging thing (one year ahead of you buddy!) Leave the country for your birthday. If you aren't here - it didn't happen. I've been doing it for two years now!

Welcome to the board.

Strangely, Darren, my most vivid memory of you is when we were kids and you chased me with a toy Star Trek phaser. I thought it was real and that you were actually going to kill me. I was probably only four or five at the time, so I was a little clueless. I got over the trauma eventually, and I seem to be a normal, functioning human now.

OMG I almost forgot about grade 5...Thanks that is 6 months therapy shot to hell just kidding. ...where do you find pictures on this site? I am new here so please forgive my inexpierience and just shepherd me along like a little kid.

As for driving fast well I think you are exagerrating abit..ok no you're not but I must admit I have slowed down a whole lot since then...must be age lol...well the big four O comes Monday and I wish I could leave the country...best I can do is being sent to teach in BC the following Wednesday...Does that count? maybe next year I can leave the country

As for the big 4 - 0, going to BC would probably do the same trick - but your timing is off - you have to be somewhere else on your actual birthday. Oh well, better luck next year and have a good one anyway. Hopefully your friends and family won't do anything too awful to you on Monday!

Where are you now Barry and how is the family...I hope this finds you well.

The family is doing well. Brian is still in Georgetown, Vanessa and her husband are out in Penticton, where they run a company that does things with computers that I don't understand, and I'm living in Toronto with my fiancee, editing books (primarily fiction). The parents are still on Faludon ... one of the last "original" families there.

Speaking of the originals, you may or may not have heard that your old neighbour Lilian Brown passed away not long ago. I believe Colin is living in that house now. Hmm ... I remember him and Kevin chasing me with green squirt guns once. I wonder why the older kids on the street were always tempted to shoot me? Rough neighbourhood.
