Ok 80's crew we are well on our way to taking over the universe.... ha ha ha (evil laugh)

well ok not the universe but we are getting up there on posts and I'm having a heck of a lot of fun. over 350 posts on our 80's forum (ok, ok I know half of them are mine... )

We also made the Hotest discussions list... Who was your favorite teacher.

I'm still poking and prodding to get us some more folks to play with and really start this thing up. Speaking of play with did you go look in the photo gallery today and see just how long Carol and I have been playing together?? who knew how far back in history we went (34 years egad) ... I had no idea but there it is in glorious 70's colour. anyone else in there want to own up to their pixie haircut?

Christine's brother, Shaun (spelling) Glassford is an OPP officer up in Bracebridge. I remember running into him, and thinking he looked awfully familiar. He had no clue who I was though.

Sandy

Their parents had a cottage up there and moved shortly after we finished high school. Shawn has been up there for quite a few years now.

Carol

You'll think this is strange

I grew up outside of G'town and it wasn't until grade 6 at Centennial that I really spent much time outside of Glen Williams. I was telling my kids stories of growing up and one of the things that strikes me so funny is the day afterschool that I was doubling on a bike with Jody Barwell and she was going through all these streets and it little walkways that led to other streets and I was totally amazed. Amazed that she knew the way, amazed we didn't get lost, amazed that all these streets linked up!! Growing up on a Sideroad, all sideroads run one direction and Lines run another and mostly in a grid fashion. Isn't that the weirdest thing to remember let alone be amazed by? The things you townies had that I didn't LOL
Carol

My kids are having fun looking at my yearbooks and hearing stories

country vs city kids

Postby Guest » Mon Jul 11, 2005 9:39 pm

Carol,

Although we live in the country, we spend quite a bit of time in Orillia, which has a population of about 30 000 people. When we visited Toronto one March break with the kids, they got the biggest kick out of the escalator. They had never seen one before. Of course they had to spend time going up and down the escalator. Our mall in Orillia is on one level...no need for an escalator. The things we take for granted.

Sandy
P.S. we sometimes visit the Barrie mall that has an escalator, just to give the kids the experience

No surprise that the 80s board is so busy, comparitively. The 90s grads are too recent, and the older crowd is too lazy to hook their Vic-20s up to their TVs.

(Uh oh, they don't read this forum, do they?)

It's one that I use on another ezBoard on which I used to moderate. I wasn't talking about the folks on GTOL, of course. They're all wonderful and brilliant, and they look very young for their age, which really isn't very old at all, in fact it's quite young, and they have lovely smiles that can light up a room ... and you REALLY need to get a "hiding behind the couch" icon on this board!

Nothing Important to say

Postby Kim Zuraw » Thu Jul 14, 2005 4:39 pm

Nothin' to say! Who me? Well nothing important anyway. I've been lurking but not posting.
*moody break* Kinda got bummed out on the Open Door thread when it turned into memory lane past death's door in highschool. I was at that party with Jeff the night he died so it was a little freaky hearing others talk about it so vividly.

*happy topic* I just spent a few hours the other night looking at year books. Oh my whata hoot. I found a few Kim's but for the life of me can not find Kim R from class of '84. Are you sure it was '84 Kim Coy or perhaps wishful thinking? Oh gosh do I even have the right Kim? I'm so confused.

Plus I was reading all the gay little remarks like "friends forever" OMG whatever. We weren't even friends. I just felt guilty b/c you were sitting beside the real person I wanted to sign my yearbook. The comments are kinda funny though I have no idea who some of them are. Years later who is "Kathy" or "Dave"? Then "Stephanie" tells me she's really sorry she pushed me down the hill and she hope I forgive her? Well I guess so. I'm certainly not permanently scarred.

Postby deeds30 » Thu Jul 14, 2005 8:23 pm

Kim,

I am sorry for bringing your Open Door thread to a memorial thread...for some reason, that is my most vivid memory, as I spent little time there. That said, I did do one of my university placements at the Open Door (Early Childhood Education and High School Students??? Some how Ryerson felt that it was a good fit ). The lady who was operating the youth centre at the time, Ann, was a wonderful lady and she had lots to share with the people who just came into hang out.

Hey Kim Z. Kim R was Kim Redmond she is Kim
Coy now... I will have to be the official Kim Indexer and devise the system... especially after I solicit every Kim ever to have gone to GDHS listed on ClassMates

It's funny the other night I was sitting there looking at my blank yearbooks that I never got anyone to sign and thought to myself that I had missed out on something. You're probably right though that the people and notes only mean as much as your real relationship with those people.

did you ever find the "edit" function? you should be able to edit anything you post on any board. Just your own posts... not like me who can edit ANYTHING on the 80's board... whoa the power...

On the left side beside the text of your post you should see your name as poster... right under that in blue you should see the word edit. If you click that it will reopen your post, let you change it and then at the bottom "edit post" button will appear to save.

see ya!
