Hi Don you mentioned having lived in two centuries being wonderful. I attended GDHS in two decades the 50's and 60's. I tried to stretch it into three decades but fortunately was not successful in that endeavour. I think this is a great idea. Thanks Tim.

Hi Been doing some rummaging and came up with a yearbook from 1962-1963. Here is the class list for grade T10B. At least a couple of you will find this interesting: Marcel Geway, Bill Briggs, Jerry Steringa, John Clark, Al Wheeler, Dave Sheppard, Ross Duncan, ROGER GADD, Don Boyd, William Flikkema, Larry Milton, Fred Howse, Paul Thompson, Jim Guest, Max (Mac) Korzack, Don Robertson, Evan Fournier, COLIN MING, Lorne Cofell, Rick Barber, Steve Hoare, Keith Gillett (absent: Larry Allen, Wayne Griffin). I have scanned the picture but for some reason it keeps coming out poor quality even though the picture is quite good. Al

Al, I photocopied pages out of that yearbook and sent them to Don. Don, did you receive them yet? I used 2 different photocopiers at Costco. The first one jammed thank heavens. It turned out that the copies from that one were terrible. But when I went to another copier, and darkened the pictures a no. of degrees (as I had done with the first copier), they came out great. Hi, Al, I have the yearbook for 1967-1968. Is that one you are talking about? I packed it up along with all the books a couple of days ago. It is in one of a neatly stacked pile of 'book boxes' here, which won't get opened again until after May 15th. Don, I was going to photocopy these for you before the move, but unfortunately the packing took precedence. This is the first ever move we've done where we are packing while there is still plenty of time. It is a great change! Happy easter everyone. Hope you are having good weather wherever you are. We are getting heavy snow in Edmonton at the moment, it's not worth risking the road conditions today. It looks like we'll get lots of packing done. Iris Gadd (nee Maile)

Iris The one I have just says 1967 but I believe it's 1966-1967 - it's grade 11 for you and me. The book is the 100th centennial edition and has a white cover with a blue oval ring in the centre with the yearbook name, year and centennial identification inside and the provincial crests around the outside. The one you're referring to, 1967-1968, I think would be grade 12 and I don't have that one. Al

Hi Al, I'm writing for Iris as she is trying to bake something right now. I wait with trembling anticipation. I know we used to have that white copy for 1967 but haven't found it for a long time. Iris says,if you don't mind, send a copy of her class picture. She is trying to bake something with what is kicking around un used. Lucky I managed to grab the kitty litter before she tried using that. Roger

Al and Iris you mentioned having copies of yearbooks from the later 60's. I graduated in June,1970 and should have class pictures in those years. If someone is scanning them to CD I would be interested in getting copies. Al, I believe we were in some classes together, but am not sure of which ones.

Hi Barry Sure I remember you, good to see you here. Don't know what classes we would have shared - I didn't have many in 1970, that was my sixth year in the 5yr. course and I was there for a good time not a long time. That year I had nearly three hours for lunch everyday and I didn't spend the time at school! I had a Mini Cooper in those days (you could buy a new one then for about $1800 now they're going to sell for $25 to $30 thousand!) and at lunch time Kent Korzack and I would head out to Terra Cotta and the Forks of the Credit where the roads were a real challenge and we put them to the test. I have yearbooks from 1969 and 1970. If you want any pictures let me know and I'll see what I can do Al

I remember Kent. During the summer of 73' I was working at Gage Stationary to earn some money for my second year at Guelph university. Kent, I believe, had some job at a car dealership on the corner just up from the factory. I use to see him often, walking home from work and often, we would walk together and talk about so many things. I remember thinking how handsome he was, but mostly thinking how nice he was. We became good "walking home" friends that summer and I looked forward to seeing him after work. He made me feel special because well after all he was about a year or two older than me and why would anyone give the time of day to a junior?! Funny how we thought back then. That was a strange summer indeed. My father had just been transfered to Calgary and it was technically the first summer on my own. I stayed with friends of my parents (the Zilio's I believe their name was). I don't remember much about that summer except working in that damn factory and the many experiences there, including getting my fingers caught in one of their machines (a paper press). Luckily it was toward the end of the summer and I ended going back to work and they giving me easy jobs. As I look back on that now, I am sure that they didn't want any lost time injury to report and me being naive and needing the money went to work aching fingers and all. Iris Thanks for those kind words (the cheque is in the e-mail). It's nice to be remembered but especially nice to know you left that kind of an impression. We have been living in the Streetsville area for nearly 25 years now. Two daughters, both still single, the youngest (22 this year) still living at home. In fact I think she plans on waiting us out to take over the house! Hopefully she'll have a long wait. Don & Sandy When I got married I had a real dilemma. I couldn't settle on who my best man would be. I had two choices and wished I could have both. Kent Korzack was one of them. In the end I asked Kent to be my master of ceremonies. He was great and kept everyone very entertained. Did you know he took the stage at the Riviera one night and did his act. It was a one night stand but he was very good. He would have been very good. A very talented guy who also contributed much of the artwork to the yearbook. Sadly missed. Al

Re: Kent Korzack I knew Kent because I am good friends with his brother Mac. I remember him well because he was such a nice guy (like all the Korzacks) and do clearly remember how talented and funny he was. He was very good at imitations. A real loss. Gloria

Stan's has been mentioned before but I thought I could relate a couple of my experiences and maybe bring back some old memories. we used to spend a lot of time in Stan's making a coke last forever and entertaining ourselves with the little jukebox that was in each stall. We sometimes even played the songs. The songs used to be listed with both of the A side and the B side as well as the vocalist or group. We could sit forever running the two sides together. Al, if I may, the restaurant beside the IGA was the Open Kitchen, Stan's was downtown on the Main Street. Was that Jamie Carter, the Mayors brother that was playing his guitar. Yes John, did you swipe one of those from Stan's, it was big money to actually play the songs, 3 for a quarter or there abouts! Sorry Al. The restaurant beside the IGA is the Georgeview, and it's still there. Last time I was in there you can still see a little bit of the old menu up on the wall above where the pies are kept. It might be gone now, but it always amused me to see that little bit of "yesterday"! Stan's Restaurant was downtown, beside Joe's smoke shop. I believe it's now a Chinese Restaurant but I wonder if it's still the bus stop!!! Never noticed but it probably is!!!! Jane Anne (Emmerson)

The one beside the IGA used to be called The Open Kitchen. I used to wash dishes there. I mean really wash dishes. I was the dishwasher. My poor hands used to look like prunes in very short time. My sister Rhona worked there for quite awhile as a waitress. Over a period of a few years I had worked in a few of the stores in that stretch starting with the IGA, The Open Kitchen, and the butcher shop which I think was called Blue Valley Meats where I was the champion wiener skinner.
