INXS rock band has a reality TV show (ROCKSTAR:INXS) on CBS searching for a new lead singer. One of the contestants is the girl friend of my son Sean Cotton. She is not from G'town but has sung downtown at the village festival several times and also at Charleyfitzwhiskey's before it closed. <br>Her name is <!--EZCODE BOLD START--><strong>SuZie McNeil</strong><!--EZCODE BOLD END-->.<br> It is on <!--EZCODE BOLD START--><strong>CBS & CH TV tonight (Tuesday) at 10PM EDT</strong><!--EZCODE BOLD END-->. Hi. We've been avidly watching but have yet to vote. Guess we'll have to get off our chairs and vote now that there is a G'Town connection. Glad that Suzy can sing too so it's not just hometown votes. She does a great job... wishing her luck although I really think Mig is going to win. As the results of last night's voting are in, tonight the bottom 3 face elimination. They each have to sing an INXS song and be judged solely by the band. One or 2 could be eliminated if the band says the singer is not a good fit for the lead in INXS. Show time tonight (Wed.) is 9 PM EDT<br><br>Neil <p></p><i></i>

I watched some of the singers too, and it always amazes me how great a person can sound on one song and how awful on another....keeping in mind that some of the material they choose (or maybe are told) to sing, they probably never would usually. <br><br>For instance, I like that girl Jordis but her trying to sing Layla (a song I've always hated anyway) was painful.<br><br>I read that SuZie was advised not to sing that "Losing my Religion" song, but she did anyway......<br><br>Some of the material is definitely for guys - I think there's only just so much a gal can sing in the hard "rock" genre.<br><br>Do you think the Band is looking for a rocker or a fluffy fill-in?<br>Can they combine both successfully? <p></p><i></i>

She has definately got a rocker soul. I happen to love Layla but alas too found Jordis singing it to be painful to listen to. I like Alannah Myles...I think she can do both.<br><br>Generally though, I prefer to hear a "deep raspy voiced" male belting out songs. Maybe 'cause that's I'm a gal. I wonder how a vote on that would go....."Would you prefer to listen to a hard rock song by a guy or a gal" ? And I wonder if each sex would vote in favour of the other? OK.....I watched and it's kind of fun to play the part of a critic.<br><br>I think Suzie is the best gal for sure. I see she "Started Up" with "for Sean and Canada"! <br> She has the tone, pitch and power, presentation. Poor Jordis has to go home. The other one looks too fragile.<br><br>I think Marty is the best guy. He has the right raspy, raunchy voice, the right look. He reminds me of Ralph Fiennes gone "strange"....kind of an ethereal quality. The MiG guy should really get a decent hairdo going on and I don't think he has the raunchiness or the "look", even though he's a good singer - I just don't think he's right for a powerhouse rock band. And Ty.....the hair thing again....YUCK! Has no power or mystique. Gotta be Marty.<br><br>But......just like the Oscars with musicals and comedies up against good solid dramas - how on earth do you choose between a guy and a gal. where to start... oh my... as my opinion and yours couldn't be much more different... Hope you don't think I'm jumping on you JJ, that's the beauty of opinions we're all entitled. You and I can be the Siskel and Ebert of this little forum. Thumbs up, thumbs down...<br><br>We do share the opinion that Suzie rocks and yeah for the call out to Sean. I think you're right that she stands the best chance of the 3 girls there.... but<br><br>Jordis is fabulous. yes she had a bad night last night but that girl can sing and I'd hate to see her go as I'd miss her next week. I don't think she'll win in the end as she's not really INXS style but I'd like her there as long as possible and will be watching for her name popping up somewhere else when this is over.<br><br>Mig is also fabulous and I can see him winning the whole thing. He is the best fit for INXS IMHO.<br><br>Marty, while he's talented... he just freaks me out. I don't even like looking at him he's got such a weird look in his eyes. I remember INXS the first time around and it was part of "my" music and can say honestly that Marty is definately not INXS to me, although with the boys trying to go "modern" who knows. Marty is definately the closest to what the kids today like so perhaps he'll suprise me and bring it home. <br><br>JD is just trying too hard. he's very good and should try riding that for a while rather than his good looks (which are considerable mind you .<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START ;) --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> charming the girls in the crowd<br><br>Ty is also a fabulous talent. I don't think you can really say the same for the likes of the top 5 from any of the "Idol" series or perhaps even the winners... they're just not the caliber that you're seeing on Rockstar. Well, I agree that Marty is "freaky", but I think JD is "too normal looking" <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :eek --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/eek.gif ALT=":eek"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> Marty reminds me of a guy named Sam who used to rock the night away at a club in Yorkville in the late 60's....he even has the same striped pants!!!! <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :eek --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/eek.gif ALT=":eek"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> <br><br>MiG either should grow his hair longer and have it "flowing" or get a buzz cut - plastered down bangs in the eyes is too distracting.... in the YUCK department (imo). He's "cute" rather than "handsome" and it depends on the market they're trying to reach.<br><br>After seeing and painfully hearing Jordis slaugher "Layla" and then "Dream ON" I won't hold out any WHOOPS for her. She should be able to sing all notes on all songs to be "world class". I think she's in the wrong league.<br><br>JD, I think should get a little punkier. <br><br>I think the freaky, ethereal quality works for Marty...you just don't expect him to have such a powerhouse voice and he can deliver. Well, I just have to weigh in. Last night I made it a point to actually sit down and watch the show. Previously I had just watched clips online.<br><br>I have to say that as far as the women go, I definitely liked Suzie the best. I felt she did a great job on her song last night and like both of you, thought it was great that she mentioned Sean and Canada so she got my vote.<br><br>As far as the men go, I am with Kim. I think MiG has it. He really impressed me last night. I didn't expect to like his original song and I liked both the song and his performance. After reading his bio, I think his past professional experience really shows. <br><br>I took the time again last night to listen to Suzie and MiG's songs online again and they are my favourites. I ended up voting for both of them a couple of times online.<br><br>I found it really interesting that a few of the top contenders were Canadian. We must be doing something right up here! <p></p><i></i>

Although my hearing is gone, I watch for other indicators such as crowd reaction, body language etc.<br>IMHO, I feel Suzie carries herself real well and came across very good and the crowd reaction had her in the top three last night, I also thought that of MIG.<br>I voted a couple of times hoping to keep them in.<br>'TO SEAN in Canada' I thought was super by Suzie.<br>Good luck to her.<br><br>Regards,<br>Don <p></p><i></i>
