Some wallpaper - Classics and Muscle Cars

I've been keeping myself busy lately learning how to use Photoshop Elements. I've created a some wallpapers with a musclecar theme. They are 1024 x 768.

My old car 1969 Chevelle
1969 Camaros, a Z28, COPO and a ZL-1
Two cars on my wish list a 1969 Camaro Z28 and a 1970 Buick GSX
For my lurker friend a 1967 Beaumont

Andy Wemyss
GDHS Class of '69

Edited by: andyww at: 8/2/02 11:17:18 pm

Oooooh......very COOL!!!!!

Postby JulieJane » Mon Jul 22, 2002 1:51 pm

Beauties!!!!!! Since we have a classic and an LBC (little British car - TR6) I think we should definitely get a muscle car. I would like a Charger or a Barracuda.....my faves. Hubby is partial to the GTO.

JULIE
I have emailed Andy already, but if you would like to see a lot of MUSCLE CARS per say, look at Ebay, under Ebay Motors, Collectibles. Some nice cars there.
Regards,
Don

Edited by: Don Fendley at: 7/22/02 6:11:15 pm

Julie, there are a lot of nice musclecars. I like the Cudas as well. The last musclecar I had was a 73 Dodge Challenger, same as the one below, which has the same body style as the Cuda. Some other good places for checking out musclecars:
Cars on Line
Hemmings Motor News
Legendary MotorCar in Milton, a bit pricey
Wheels of Dreams in Calgary

Andy Wemyss
GDHS Class of '69

Edited by: andyww at: 7/22/02 7:28:21 pm

Love it!!!!!

Postby JulieJane » Mon Jul 22, 2002 9:35 pm

We go to cruise nights/days all the time throughout the summer and fall and always keep our eyes open for our faves for sale. We definitely need another garage!!!! We were in Georgetown last Thursday night with the Pontiac at the Canadian Tire cruise. Saturday, we took it to Brampton's summerfest downtown - they closed off Main Street for the show and had all kinds of entertainment there and in Gage Park and on Sunday we took the TR6 down to Niagara with the Waterloo British Car Club for some wine tasting, buying and a barbecue. We try to travel in a convoy as much as possible - kind of neat!

We definitely make the most of every summer and try to go to different places each year. I hate to complain, but this summer has been TOO HOT for car shows (at least for me!!!!)

Julie, sounds like you had a good weekend. When I was in Georgetown last year I went to a car show at the Canadian Tire in Milton. They had some nice cars there. Haven't heard of anything like that in Alberta. Found a link you may be interested in. Moparfest in New Hamburg.

Andy Wemyss
GDHS Class of '69

The Demon is a great car - love that colour too. I wonder what the odds in winning it are!!!!!

New Hamburg has a show on their main street every year. They close everything off and get a really turn out. We usually go to that too. We haven't been to Milton yet this year....just too much else on these past weeks!

Andy, this may not be considered a muscle car but definitely a classic for your wallpaper collection. My ride from 1976 - 1983. A 1967 Thunderbird 390 ci, 4bl, dual exhaust, auto, bucket seats, console, parlor backseat. A big departure from the early birds. The hidden front lights and sequential tail signal light was the icing on the cake that sold me. No, that's not a CB antenna on the back, it's an amateur radio antenna for the 2 meter (144 mhz) band.

Edited by: Nick Morvay at: 7/28/02 2:29:51 pm

Great looking wheels NICK! I had a 1974 BIRD, what a ride, almost scary, you were so comfortable you could nod off, not good if you are the driver .
Have a great day!
regards,
Don

Nice car Nick. I agree, the 60's T-Birds are definitely classics. The 390 was a pretty strong motor.

Julie, would be nice to win that Demon. Charities in Edmonton seem to have quite a few draws for musclecar or old classics. Usually get those tickets instead of the lotteries.

Andy Wemyss
GDHS Class of '69

Finally found the add I saved years after owning this muscle car from 1972 - 1975. A 1970 Challenger R/T 383 Magnum. The previous owner must have gone to the dealer and said to the saleman, while waving the picture in his face, "... I want one..." LOL. It had the Hurst pistol grip 4 spd. The cops loved this car, at my expense.

That is nice. I can see how that plum crazy colour would attract attention.
I wish that I had taken more pictures of my cars. These are the only pictures I have of my 1973 Camaro Z28 I owned from 74 - 78. The first one was taken in September 1974 on the day I left for Alberta. The second was taken in 1976. That is my parents leaning up against it.

Andy Wemyss
GDHS Class of '69

I made some more windows wallpapers.
I had a lead on a 67 GTX Hemi body but got there too late. So I made a wallpaper of 67 GTXs.
The second is My Cars which is pictures of cars like the ones I owned. A recent picture of my old 1969 COPO Chevelle, a Camaro Z28 like the one I had, a Dodge Challenger like I had and a picture from an ad of my current ride a 1991 Cougar XR7.

Andy Wemyss
GDHS Class of '69

Edited by: andyww at: 7/31/02 3:18:53 am

Nice cars Andy!! That Chevelle one of my favorites, clean, mean sleeper. Gosh, I didn't recognize that car as being a Cougar. Another big departure. I remember it smaller, sporty like your Camaro, another cool machine. They also had those sequential rear lights like my old T-bird. That GTX is a real nice looking car, I think Mike Boyd had a blue one, I'm not sure on that now. I have a few more adds in the MOPAR lineup I will post when I get a chance to scan them.

Edited by: Nick Morvay at: 7/31/02 6:52:37 pm

Thanks Nick. The Cougar started out using the Mustang chassis then they switched to the T-Bird chassis. That body style they used from 89 - 97. I can't see myself selling it. Hard to find a good rear wheel drive V8 these days.
Would be nice to see those Mopar ads. I've got some old car magazines I 'll have to check if I can find anything in there. I found this ad for a 70 GSX on the internet. It's one of my favourites.

Andy Wemyss
GDHS Class of '69

Edited by: andyww at: 7/31/02 11:14:16 pm

Don sent me an email for a 69 Z28 for sale on Ebay. I'd be heading to Nashville to pick it up.

Andy Wemyss
GDHS Class of '69

Edited by: andyww at: 8/1/02 3:14:19 am

Hey Andy and all former Mini owners

Postby JulieJane » Thu Aug 01, 2002 10:32 pm

We went to a cruise in London tonight (yes, we travel far and wide for cruise nights!!!) and a fellow there had a brand new yellow Mini Cooper. It was fabulous!!!! They're quite large and more rounded than the old ones of the 60's and 70's. This one had EVERYTHING on it and in it - it was a gem. He also had a plum-coloured Prowler there - his wife drove the Mini. License plate MINICPRS

Andy, I could see you it that, yes she is fine. You always had great cars, KENNY MORROW was another guy that always owned show pieces. JACK CUNNINGHAM had the really neat CAMERO and KEN SPROULE the MUSTANG. PAUL WARD had the first car that had a keyless entrance and no door handles per say.
Over the years, GEORGETOWN has been the home of some cool cars.
Have a good one my friend,
Regards,
Don

Don, those are some names I haven't heard in a long time. Jack Cunningham also had a nice 57 Chev he had the accident with. Walt Dixon also had a 57 Chev. They used to come over to the house after hockey and I'd sit at the window admiring their cars wishing I had one. Definately saw a lot of great cars growing up in Georgetown. Do you remember the Radicals Car Club? Had their club house on the corner of Mountainview and River Road.

Julie, haven't seen any Coopers out west. Going by the pictures I've seen they look nice. The supercharged Cooper S sound interesting. Nice to see car companies bringing out the retro cars. Looking forward to seeing the Pontiac GTO that is coming out next year.

Andy Wemyss
GDHS Class of '69

Julie, if you are refering to a new GTO convertible, unfortunately they are only making coupes. Here are a couple of links. GM's Pontiac GTO website and HSV in Australia that is building them.

Andy Wemyss
GDHS Class of '69

The new HSV coupe (Monaro) is *based* on the original Monaro, late 60's.

Here's a link to the original (if I can make one that is)

www.fastlane.com.au/Features/Gold_HKMonaro.htm
Al Darby

Andy - hubby wants the "old" GTO with all the bells and whistles!!!!!!! We had the opportunity to buy one last year, but at US$........well, we would if we could sell ours for US$!!!!!! We had an offer from a guy near Rochester, NY, but we weren't quite ready to even think about selling. Maybe next year.
