Snow Silver screen

Postby Michael » Wed Dec 12, 2007 8:40 pm

This Christmas screen is messing up my computer at home for some reason. I hit a link, it looks like its building, and then it just sits there. I have to hit the Refresh button. I had a problem where it posted my message twice. I dunno.

The only think I can think of is that there is a bug in IE 6. I am using Firefox and it's fine, and I tried in an older version of IE without any problems.

Is anyone else having a problem?

Yesterday, I started getting "Internet Explorer has encountered an error and will have to close", and the stupid box keeps appearing on and off. It drives me crazy.

And now, I remember that this was mentioned last year about this snowflake format interefering with our computers.

What gives????

Right now, I'm running IE 6.0 on my laptop without any problems, but my desktop at home that has less RAM and slower clock speed has the problem. Could it be a load for my computer to generate the snow flake animations that is the problem?

I went to the computer store today to ask about the "Error" box that kept coming up in the last 3 days, and they suggested first to download IE7 and then go from there. I just did that, so now I'll keep fingers crossed and hope that is the answer.

I'm going to try that..mine has been doing at all week too. I get error messages and it reboots all on it's own all the freakin time. I think it crashed, but thankfully I managed to get all my important stuff off in time...right now at this time of year I can't afford a new hard drive...

Well, I don't know, I just tuned in to do some work and the dreaded "error" box showed up again. System seems to be running a bit faster, but that stupid error box came up. I guess a tune-up from the techies at Staples is in order. I absolutely HATE disconnecting all those wires at the back. But......this is a system that's only a year old, so I don't want to take any chances.

I wonder if the Mozilla or Forefox would be better than IE ?

a quick hint

Postby deeds30 » Sat Dec 15, 2007 5:06 pm

We had a friend who told us that before the computer crashes, you should open a hotmail account and send yourself all of your important files...then when you are able to find the solution to your problem, you can reinstall those files.

Not a bad idea if you don't have a CD or DVD burner or if you're afraid it's going to crash while making backup copies.
