IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!
THE GTOL ADMIN TEAM!!!

Dear Members of GTOL:

Thank you for your patience over the last week. It has given us the time to sort out the roles and responsibilities, and I would like to take this time to introduce you to our team:

Community Manager - Don Fendley
Don’s role is to promote the community culture and make a final decision about threads or member status when necessary.

Administrators – Lisa, Kim, JenG & Paul Fendley
Administrators have overall control of the board. Administrators would also help moderators if they have questions or need advice about particular threads, and step in as a Moderator when necessary. Administrators also have the ability to delete members but only after a consensus has been reached by the Moderators, Administrators and Community Manager.

Moderators – Bonnie, Petitbois, DeeDee (deeds30)
The moderator’s role is to review the posts and make sure they are staying on topic and keeping the topics under control if they do start getting out of hand. The moderator has the overall authority for the posts in their forum, and will contact any member through private message if he or she feels that the member’s post is not harmonious with the culture of GTOL.

In addition, there is a new registration agreement in place that includes a mission statement, purpose and code of conduct. All current and new members of GTOL are expected to abide by it. We appreciate everyone’s support going forward. We trust that all members will work with our team to ensure that there are no further issues at GTOL.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact a Moderator, Administrator or the Community Manager.

Sincerely,

The Team at GTOL

Aw shucks - it's nothing really!

Hey Tessa - I love the pic you are using now. Any chance you would consider posting some photos from Perth in our Photo Gallery?

Thanks ladies for your kind words, I do not know about the other team members, but the GTOL is a labour of love for me, I get such a great feeling helping someone reconnect, bringing Georgetown to folks that for one reason or another have moved away and present Georgetownians, as Alison Green said once, quite often we have info before the paper arrives at the house. Comments like yours makes it all worth while and we will keep it going until you the members determine it is time!
I am so fortunate to be surround with such great team members, present and in the past. I will always be greatful to COLIN that made my dream come true and to Al Darby, for his guidance from the beginning and Jennifer that has come to mine and Paul's rescue more times then I can count. And Gloria and Sandra Taylor that helped get us running smoothly. The team members today are just the very best, I wish I could pay them what they are worth!

To all, I said thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Don,
When one or more of our senses are lost, it is said that our other senses are sharpened to compensate for those that are gone. GTOL is your lost senses - hearing and balance.
GTOL will be around for a very long time my friend.

don...i don't know what to say to you that would sufficiently express my gratitude for this site. but i'll share what's just happened to me here, while my head is still spinning from it:

i was just now looking around the archives...and came across a thread with an interesting title...and it's the only archived thread i've read so far (certainly won't be the last!).
well...it was very interesting and entertaining because the discussion is all about people who lived on my street, or the street behind me.
and then someone tells a story about being in holland, and you know what?
he ran into my grandfather!!!!
now i only saw my grandfather a handful of times in my entire life, and he has long been dead. how mindblowing to hear a story about him now...from a complete stranger to our family.

where else, or how else could i have ever learned this?

thankyou, don.

Tessa, you have just eliminated any hardships I may have had over the seven plus years here at GTOL. You have expressed exactly what we hoped the site would do and I hope you discover other hidden secrets as you explore the Archives, I hope my grandchildren will have the opportunity of learning about me in decades to come.
Thanks Tessa for sharing your findings with us.
Sincerely,
Don
