Help

Postby Gloria Jones » Tue Jul 21, 2020 8:38 pm

Still trying to upload a picture. Here's what the help page said:

[b]Yes, images can be shown in your posts. If the administrator has allowed attachments, you may be able to upload the image to the board. Otherwise, you must link to an image stored on a publicly accessible web server, e.g. http://www.example.com/my-picture.gif. You cannot link to pictures stored on your own PC (unless it is a publicly accessible server) nor images stored behind authentication mechanisms, e.g. hotmail or yahoo mailboxes, password protected sites, etc. To display the image use the BBCode [img] tag.[/b]

The attachment didn't work. Tried more than once. And I can't link to pictures on my pc which was my other option. Guess I will never be able to upload a photo unless someone has another idea.

Hi Gloria,

I'm at a loss. Attachments are allowed, and can be as big as 2MB. The total space allocated for attachments is 200MB, so there should be no probs there (at least, not for a while)

Maybe it's time to ask Al.

Both of these pictures are JPG files.
Go to the bottom of the page and click on upload attachment.
Click on choose file.
Your computer screen pops-up, choose your JPG file and click it.
You will see your file name beside Choose File. Click Add the file button.
Click the Place In Line button.

Mark
Are there other files you can activate for up-load like PDF or is it limited to JPG?

John, any image file can be posted. This includes png, gif, tiff, for example.

I've added PDF -- try that, and see if it works now.

It says;
The image file you tried to attach is invalid. (For PDF)
That's ok, PDF isn't really needed. I have a PDF to JPG converter it's free.
When I upload to the Cemetery web site I look after I have to convert XL, Word, PDF to an image file, easy to do.
Any regular picture will upload here, anything else just go to the microsoft store and get a free converter from whatever to an image.

[The extension pdf has been deactivated and can no longer be displayed.]

As you can see it seems to make the PDF downloadable, maybe not a good idea, makes it possible for someone to hide a virus behind it.

John, it just doesn't want to consider a PDF as an image, :rules: no matter what I do! I'll take it back off the list

Sounds good.
Can you write a proper description and pin it to the top of the appropriate section of the forum?
