So who bought tickets for the Homecoming in July? Jasper and I bought our tickets for the weekend.

Anyone else?

Got my ticket, but it is an extremely busy weekend with other functions so not sure when or where I'll be.

Good to know Don. I have been trying to buy ours online but have been having trouble completing the registration form. I'm sure the problem is at my end with my security settings but I just can't get in. Hope I can get it done before they're all gone.

You're not the only one, Al. I've tried repeatedly on two different occasions and it simply won't take the info. When I click 'submit' and go to the Confirm page, it's all blank -- all the info I so carefully entered has disappeared ! Something is screwed up at their end.

Hi Don, sorry to tell you this, but they're feeding you a line. The first thing I did when I was having a problem was to go to the FAQ... and there was absolutely nothing there about this problem !

With the trouble I was having with the online form Katie Downes put me on to Jim T. Jim suggested that my problem was in my set-up and that I needed to clear my cache and set my browser to receive all cookies until I had completed the form. Didn't work for me and I gave up trying to get tickets through the Homecoming site and took Don up on his suggestion. I sent my cheque to Jan Knoiwles a week ago. Haven't heard back yet and the cheque hasn't been cashed yet but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything will be okay.....or else! :shit:  :D :laff:

I too gave up on the Homecoming website. The instructions recently added to the FAQ site were for Internet Explorer 6 ! ! ! ! (about 4 generations obsolete) But even so, I tried to apply them to IE 9, but to no avail. The Homecoming registration website simply doesn't work.

I can buy train tickets on the VIA rail website, no problem. Ditto Air Canada, ditto Amazon, and many many other dittos -- but not on the Georgetown Reunion website. So my conclusion is that the problem is without doubt on the Homecoming website and not at our end.

I hope this doesn't end up in disappointment for many would-be attendees.

Just guessing, but I'm inclined to suspect the software they're using to process payments. With online commerce software, it really is a case of "you get what you pay for", e.g. Adobe never have a problem processing payments

No doubt, he did a great job of setting it up, but ecommerce software is incredibly finicky. I've avoided ever using it, as the really good ones cost an arm and a leg to run. (IMO)

I would like to know if I want to come to the Big Dance social evening, can I pay at the door ? Is this affair strictly a "buy a ticket beforehand" event - no tickets sold on entry ?

Julie tickets are 30 each just for the dance. I would get them now as I am sure there is limited space. I did not see anyhing about purchase at the door. Hope this helps you out.

There may be other locations to purchase, (haven't been on their website for a few months) but go to John Viera's store in the plaza- you can buy them at the counter. Cash or cheque. Have to fill out the registration form (for the purchaser only- not asking for the names of those attending on your additional tickets)- contact info and email.
I got a confirmation email a couple days later when I bought 4 tickets (us and Llew's), with a message that ticket pickup is on the Friday of the HC weekend.
Tickets at the door aren't practical for the organizers. You have to get the money upfront to have some confidence that you won't lose your shirt. For HC2007, as chair, I was quite nervous when I signed the contract with the town for $60000+, long before we had any sales, knowing I was on the hook personally if we crashed and burned.
When we started sales, it was all in advance, and we took heat because people wanted only the dance, not the 'package' deal. We stuck to it though, because the small extra amount for the package helped us meet our expense base. As it turned out with the hot weekend weather, the bars did far better than anticipated, and we had 'idealistically' decided on wine only on the Friday night social get-together- a selection of the most popular whites, and some reds. No dessert wines whatsoever.
BIG MISTAKE!
Hardly anyone bought wine- we had to return dozens and dozens of cases. They wanted beer!!!! And coolers.
If we had sold it Friday we would have easily topped the $82000 profit level, instead of the $79271(?) we donated to the Library. If HC2013 sells only wine on Friday, they are seriously limiting their profits. Memorial arena will be much more of a sweat box than the larger MoldMaster facility, if the weather is hot, so beer sales are potentially huge.

That's quite an eye-opener, PB. I would have easily thought that most of the females would have been drinking wine. I'm surprised that you got left with so much. Coolers ? I never would have guessed.
